![]() It's not exactly a TS clearance, but it's not something you just ask for and get. ![]() It takes weeks, and is not something I'd recommend if you're trying to maintain a low profile prior to attempting a terrorist act. Well enrolling in Precheck means an in-person interview, fingerprints, background check, etc. ![]() I mean I have no plans to blow up an aircraft but if I did I would be sure to enroll in Precheck first and then skip the enhanced inspection of electronic devices. The TSA was quick to point out that the revised security measures do not apply to passengers enrolled in the TSA Precheck program. People give TSA agents a hard time about being stupid/low IQ, but I give them props for dealing with the arguably stupider general population on a day to day basis.īut the new rules don't apply to everybody. I'm not even talking about some of the relatively recent crap we have to deal with, it's basic things like don't wear a fuck ton of jewelry and try to walk though a metal detector. You'd think after decades of air travel people would figure this shit out. I guarantee you that TSA agents are going to take inordinately long to restock the bin pile, which is going to deplete much faster because of this policy.Īnd even if you pack "light" to make it through security quickly, you cannot count on the hundreds of other fellow passengers doing the same. Doubly so when they're not "running Precheck" because as I've experienced all too often, they'll fail to make it clear that everything has to come out of your bag even if you have Precheck, leading to them overwhelming themselves with manual bag checks as a result.Īlso, at Heathrow the bins at least automatically get sent back to the other side of the checkpoint. Prepare for security lines to be even slower, if you had to pack just so, this basically means unpacking your entire bag at the security theater checkpoint. I got to experience this at Heathrow recently. ![]()
